The Plustek BookReader V100 is a flatbed scanner that features highly accurate OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) capability to convert printed documents into high quality speech with a lifelike voice. This is of particular value to persons who are visually impaired or blind. Plus it is so simple to use - simply places a book or document on the scanning platen and, with the touch of one button, the document is scanned, and the text is transformed into audio output, which can be saved in MP3 format for archiving and later access.
The BookReader V100 integrates high-speed scanning, natural voice synthesis and highly accurate text-to-speech and optical character recognition (OCR) functionality, all in one device. The embedded OCR guarantees accurate scan results and allows the software to rotate disoriented text to generate a clearer message for the user. The Scanner also incorporates Plustek's patented SEE Technology, which uses a curved lamp to provide a clear scan of a book without distortion along the spine that is typical of most flatbed scanners. Additional features, especially designed for the visually impaired, include magnifying functions, font controls, volume controls, speech controls, bookmark functions, PDF reading, and more - making the BookReader a highly versatile computer companion.
